Volunteer with St Luke’s Care this National Volunteer Week
This week is National Volunteer Week (20-26 May), a time to celebrate the positive impact volunteers make to our St Luke’s Care community.
There are many different ways you can volunteer with us and you don’t need any specialist qualifications or prior experience, just a willingness to help others.
Your contribution will support our community of seniors to improve their physical and mental wellbeing. Plus, there are also benefits to you in volunteering – you can meet new people, learn new skills and positively contribute to the community.
National Volunteer Week is the perfect time to start your volunteering journey and gift your presence to our community.
Here is what you need to know to volunteer with St Luke’s Care:
WHAT DO OUR VOLUNTEERS DO?
Our volunteers generously donate their time to make a difference in the lives of others. Visit with our Lulworth House residents, accompany us on our community programs or greet patients arriving in our Private Hospital.
WHAT WILL YOU GAIN FROM VOLUNTEERING AT ST LUKE’S CARE?
Volunteering benefits the volunteer as much as those you are helping. It can be a very sociable experience and an opportunity to meet new people and form bonds with them. Volunteering can also add to your sense of value and self-worth, as you are making a real difference in the lives of those you help.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN OUR VOLUNTEERS?
We are looking for people who can dedicate a minimum of 2 hours a week to volunteering with us and who are able to commit to at least 3 months with us.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO TO VOLUNTEER WITH US?
We ask that all our volunteers need to be immune to Varicella, Measles, Mumps and Rubella and Hepatitis B (only for volunteers in our Hospital). To prove immunity, you either need to show proof of vaccination or take a serology test (we will give you a serology form to take to a medical provider to have blood drawn and a serology test performed). You will also need NDIS clearance. Our Volunteer Co-ordinator can assist in all these processes.
